Alan (Al) Covey

Alan (Al) Covey of Bullard. TX passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. A devoted man, Alan leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength and unwavering support for those he held dear. We believe that Alan has rejoined his beautiful and beloved bride Elizabeth (Liz) Covey (Barham) and they are once again dancing under the stars in heaven. Here on earth their presence will be dearly missed but our faith rejoices that they are together and at peace.

Alan was born in Coldwater, Michigan on July 28, 1944. He loved his home state and his Detroit Lions. He remained a true fan his entire life. Alan was joined in marriage to Elizabeth Covey on December 25, 1995. Alan enlisted in the Navy branch in 1962, honorably serving his country. He was a businessman who had a true entrepreneurial spirit and engaged in many ventures during his lifetime.

Survivors include his step-son, Casey Hahn Jr and wife Sherry of Brenham, TX; step-son Jason Hahn of Caldwell, TX; step-daughter Angela Hatch Gladney and husband Jimmie of Arlington, TX and
son Nicholas Covey of Bullard, TX; his grandchildren are Haylee Hahn, Hunter Hahn, Harley Hahn, Jaden Evans, Alexia Hatch, Landen Gladney and Tanner Hatch and one great-grand child Kinsley Martinson; and his brothers-in-law, Earnest L. Barham and wife Cheri of Bellville, TX; Kenneth Barham and wife Kathy of Bastrop, TX and Robert Barham and wife Cynthia of Argyle, TX. In addition, he is survived by his cousins Marsha Degroot and Pam Potts, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; father Ralph William Covey Jr; mother, Beverly Elane Bakeman (Bell); step-father, Harry “Coxy” Bakeman; grandfather Clark Bell and grandmother, Marguerite “Gigi” Free Bell.

Alan would want his friends and family to remember to “Always make time for Special minutes”.  As Mother Teresa said, “Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.”

To honor Alan, the family has arranged a funeral service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Somerville, TX on Saturday July 8, 2023 at 10 a.m.
