Billy Thomas Owens, 81, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Mr. Owens was born in Tallulah, Louisiana, July 31, 1941, to Raymond and Maude Owens.

He was the youngest of five siblings: Mary Hellen Stratton (deceased), Bobbie Vaccarella (deceased), R.H. Owens (deceased), Mildred Pennington (deceased)and Lee Owens (deceased)

He is survived by his daughters: Jamie Reed, Becky Pierce (Todd), and Judy Smith (Ken). He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Justin Kernes, Brittany Wilson (Trey and their daughter, Hadley), Austin Pierce, Kathryn Smith, and Joseph Smith.

He was proud to have served as a peace office with the Palestine Police Department for 6 years and the Jacksonville Police Department for 10 years until his health would not allow him to do so anymore.

Billy was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville and loved singing in the choir until his health prevented it. He loved music, motorcycles, cars, but, most of all, his family. For as long as his health allowed, he never missed a special event for his children or grandchildren.

His best memories were of spending time at Lake Jacksonville with his family camping and boating.

A memorial service is open to the public and will be held at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Jacksonville at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 9, conducted by Dale Jamerson.

After many years of illness, his suffering has finally ended.
