Charles Anthony "Tony" Blakeney

Charles Anthony "Tony" Blakeney, born August 29, 1952, in Raleigh, Mississippi, passed away on October 14, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez and Audie Blakeney, by his brother, Clark Blakeney, by his daughter, Amanda, and by his granddaughter, Presley.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Blakeney; his sons, Jason Blakeney and Aaron Blakeney; and his grandchildren, Jason "Read" Blakeney, Bryton Blakeney, and Brody Blakeney.

He graduated from Raleigh High School.

Tony could talk to anybody. He loved a good conversation — full of life, always laughing, always ready with something funny. If you knew Tony, you knew laughter wasn’t far behind him.

He served 15 years in law enforcement — chief of police in his hometown of Taylorsville and patrolman in Collins, Mississippi — before moving into oil and gas, starting in field pipe inspection and then sales. It suited him: nobody enjoyed talking with people more than Tony. He was a hard worker who would do anything for anyone, and he knew his work inside and out.

He met Jan while she worked at her mother’s drive-in. He thought she was beautiful, asked her out, and that was that. He was 21 and she was 18 when they married. He lived in the Bullard area for over 40 years.

He was a member of Bullard Methodist Church. Outside of work, he loved gun collecting, golf, hunting, and woodworking, and kept at them all as long as he was able. He golfed and hunted with coworkers and customers who had become friends — a man who liked working with his hands and spending time outdoors, and he enjoyed every minute of it.

Tony will be remembered for his humor, his laughter, and the way he could light up a room just by being in it. He loved his family, he loved to laugh, and he loved to talk — and the people who loved him will miss all of it.

Job 8:21 — "He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy."

Proverbs 15:13 — "A happy heart makes the face cheerful."
