Charles “Chuck” Colton Mason

Charles “Chuck” Colton Mason, of Malakoff, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Chuck was born October 15, 1952 in his beloved hometown of Racine, Wisconsin to Harold “Hal” and Roberta Mason.  After graduating from Prairie High School in Racine, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for almost 9 years and part of the 101st Airborne Division known as the distinguished “Screaming Eagles”.  While enlisted and stationed in Fort Huachuca, Arizona he met and married his best friend, partner and love of his life Patricia “Pat” Chavez. He was also stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; Seoul, Korea; and Stuttgart, Germany.

Chuck took his military electronics passion and experience from the Army and Graduated from Texas State Technical Institute with an Electronics Degree. After graduating, he went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Applied Science from Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas majoring in Business.

Chuck had a long and successful career as the Supervisor of Maintenance for the United States Postal Service in Waco, TX where he worked and lived with Pat and together raised their 2 sons. He loved sports whether it was tennis growing up, baseball, softball or weight lifting, he was always active. He was a doting father of his 2 boys and loved watching them play baseball, football, soccer or choir concerts and was their biggest fan in anything they did. He was a proud “Papa” to 2 grandchildren Delaney and Paxton and loved them immensely.

After 28 years in Waco, Charles retired and moved with Pat to Cedar Creek Lake relishing the serenity and beauty there, while enjoying taking out their pontoon and spending time with friends and family.

Above all, Charles was a truly spiritual man and loved Jesus with his whole heart. He attended Athens Life Fellowship Church in Athens, Texas and was very active in a Men’s Prayer Group and a Life Group, where he and Pat found deep and treasured friendships. He was a kind and humble man with the ultimate confidence of Faith that showed in every interaction that he had with anyone. He was beloved by many and always had a kind word, one liner joke timed perfect or piece of advice to brighten your day. He was a beam of light in this world and is missed deeply.

He boldly loved his family and is survived by his wife Patricia Maria Mason; sons Aaron Colton Mason and wife Dana and Dustin Don Mason and wife Audrey; daughter Jean Pagador; brother Anthony Mason; sisters Courtney Mason, Elizabeth Mason-Towers, and Jennifer Mason;  niece Mindy Moffat Warren; granddaughter Delaney Marie Mason; grandson Paxton Kael Rohd; brother-in-law Raymond Chavez and wife Marci.
