Charles Clinton “Clint” Nix

Charles Clinton “Clint” Nix, a son, brother, uncle and friend, finished his earthly journey on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the age of 47. He was born on April 12, 1977 in Tyler and lived in Whitehouse, Tx.  He graduated from Whitehouse High School in 1995 and completed two years at TJC, majoring in Graphic Arts.

Clint had many loves and interests and he was meticulous in his work and in his hobbies. He was an animal lover and had four dogs, Marley, Gidgit, Otis and Pepper, that he doted on and spoiled. He had a fondness for tattoos and had many done through the years. He was most proud of the one on his chest. It was of Pixie, a beloved dog that he had lost. Even the nurses complimented his tats.

He loved to cook, and could grill anything you wanted to perfection. His pico de gallo was the best around but his chicken wings were always the favorite and his most requested food for get-togethers.

Clint loved working with plants. His houseplants were all lush, healthy and beautiful. He maintained the lawn at his home with a recipe of fertilizers, treatments and water, to the point that it looked like a carpet. He spent hours mowing, trimming, and planting and added new color every spring.

Clint began a trade many years ago as a brickmason, following in his father’s footsteps. He and his uncle David laid the brick on many area homes. Then, 15 years ago, he started his own business – Nix Lawn and Landscape. He had built a clientele that he was proud to work for and he was looking forward to serving the new customers he had acquired for this spring,

Clint was a long-time, very faithful Dallas Cowboys fan. He started each new season with optimism and hope, only to be fussing and cussing their efforts (or lack thereof) just a few weeks into the season. But he never completely threw in the towel on them. He had enough Cowboys jerseys, caps, blankets, and insulated cups to open a store.

He loved music and enjoyed a wide range of genres. There was always music playing – in his truck, in his shop and in his ears when working on a job.

Clint was predeceased by his father Merwyn Nix, a nephew Logan Hackler, his grandparents Chester & Gladys Nix and Houston & Gladys Milstead, his great-great-niece Lynnnie Mae Howland, several aunts and uncles, and a dear friend, Clint Massey.

He is survived by his mother Gwyn Nix, his sisters Rebecca Ables (OE) and Jill Hackler (Keith), all of Whitehouse, nephews & nieces Trey (Lisa), Scott, (Jessica), Derek, Erin (Wes), and Kristen (Matthew), great-nephews and nieces Coltton (Kailynn), Courtney (Jonathan), Collin and Kambreea, Brody and Levi, and Bella and Damian, as well as several aunts, an uncle, and many cousins and friends. He is also survived by his best friend Chris Breckel (Holley) and their daughter Conley, who loved and adored her Uncle Clint  - and that love was mutual.

In a final act of selflessness, he gave others the chance of a better life by donating his organs, both to recipients and to research. An Honor Walk was held Friday night, March 28, at UT Health Tyler, and attended by 40+ family members and friends, as well as hospital staff who respectfully lined the hallways. He had a favorite Cowboys cap on his chest and was covered with one of his Cowboys blankets. His favorite song, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, by Poison, was playing at the foot of his bed.

He and his family members received compassionate and loving care during the six days he was in UT Health Tyler. The Southwest Transplant Alliance staff was a comfort as well, as they walked us through the process and assured us of the importance and generosity of Clint’s gifts. We are thankful they so gently led us all through the most difficult valley, in a tender and empathetic manner.

His 47 years on earth was much, much shorter than we expected. But Clint was very happy and enjoyed his life. He took pride in a hard day’s work and looked forward to enjoying downtime with his friends on the weekends. Clint will be missed.

As he requested, there will be no service or memorial.
