Cynthia Ann Moses

Cynthia Smith Moses, 88, of Jacksonville, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.

Cynthia was born on October 27, 1937, in Jacksonville, Texas, to her parents Coy L. Smith and Edna Holcomb Smith. She graduated from Jacksonville High School, attended University of Texas Austin, and married her high school sweetheart, Paul Thomas "Tommy" Moses, Jr. Together they shared 55 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and love.

Throughout their marriage, Cynthia and Tommy made their home in Shreveport, Louisiana, Houston, Texas,  and Henderson, Texas, before returning to Jacksonville, which remained their permanent home.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Thomas "Tommy" Moses, Jr., and by her parents, Coy L. Smith and Edna Holcomb Smith. She is survived by her children: Angela Moore; Paul Moses and wife, Helen; Misti Slider and husband, Mark; and Jeff Moses and wife, Samantha. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Megan Moore, Lee Moses, John Paul Moses, Titus Moses, Jordan Slider, Jasmine Slider, Devin Carter, Dåck Moses, Morgan Glenn, and Taylor Martin. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Bowie Carter, Harvey Carter, Athena Pickens, Julian Moses, Posie Moses, Noa Carter, Niko Carter, and Kaiden Glenn.

A long time member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Cynthia's faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy in painting, searching for treasures while thrifting, tending her organic gardens, preparing delicious meals for family and friends, researching health and wellness, studying the Bible, and caring for those she loved. Cynthia was a life-long learner. She had an inquisitive mind, a generous heart, and was always eager to learn and share what she discovered.

Cynthia also believed in serving her community through civic involvement. She was active in the Republican Party and had the honor of serving as a Texas delegate, reflecting her commitment to the principles she held dear. More than anything, Cynthia will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, faithful friend, and woman of unwavering faith. Her kindness, wisdom, strength, and steadfast love for her family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with Tommy and is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be held at Boren- Conner Funeral Home in Bullard, Texas, on July 14, 2026 with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, and the service at 2:00 pm.  Paul Moses will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest at Meador Cemetery in Jacksonville, Texas.
