Dave Robert Moore

Dave Robert Moore peacefully passed from this life the afternoon of October 23, 2024, at the Chandler home of his youngest daughter, Mary Alice Cox.

Dave filled the 92 years after his 1932 birth in Okmulgee, OK with adventures all over the world. He was a wonderful Father of 3, Grandfather to 5. Great grandfather to 9. Great great grandfather to 1. They called him Pa.

Dave fell in love with flying and earned his pilot's license before he could legally drive a car. He knew Jane Mansfield in high school, met John Glen during the years he used his PhD from the University of Texas as an Aeronautical Engineer at Vought Corporation and worked on the Lunar dune buggy.

He served as an Air Force Code Breaker in Japan during the Korean War and donated countless time and effort to the Arlington Korean War Veterans Association(KWVA), Chapter 215, the Honor Flight program for veterans and many other charitable causes.

He sailed his boat, Migration, down the inland waterway then crossed to the Bahamas. He spent several years cruising and island hopping throughout the Caribbean embracing his Jimmy Buffet time.

He was an integral part of his middle daughter, Kathy Voelkel’s love of horses by participating in Golden Triangle Saddle Club events. He inspired her love of breeding horses with his purchase of stallion Hy Adventure and a group of broodmares. He helped develop the Fieldstone Park Equestrian Facility and designed a custom horse show management computer program.

He returned to Japan in 2004 to live with his eldest daughter, Diane Dill. He taught English as a Second Language and actively participated in the Japanese American Club on MCAS Iwakuni. He volunteered many hours at MC Perry Elementary reading aloud to students and playing the part of Dr Seuss. He worked with gifted students there to build and fly model aircraft.

He was a man of varied interests and many talents, scuba diver, lifelong fisherman, avid golfer, dancer, photographer and woodworker. He tended bar in Florida and St Croix, built custom homes in Texas and served as a docent for the Fort Worth Japanese Garden.

He picked up a love of Tai Chi on a trip to China and taught a senior version online until the last few months of his life.

He made the best blueberry pancakes.

Per his wishes there will be no memorial service. Please consider donating to the Honor Flight Network www.honorflight.org/donate/ a cause dear to his heart.

Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends as he was respected and loved by so many.
