Dolores Jo Hicks Sampson

Dolores Jo Hicks Sampson, 84, of Jacksonville, passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2026. A Graveside service will be conducted on Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2026, at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Rev. Daylon Hicks will officiate.

Dolores went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2026, at the age of 84 in Jacksonville, TX surrounded by loving family.

Dodie was born on October 22,1941 in Three Rivers, TX to Euthel & Dolly Hicks. She was raised in Three Rivers, TX. At the age of 17 she went to nursing school and became a registered nurse. Most of her career was spent as an OB RN delivering precious babies. While nursing she met the love of her life John Allan Sampson. They married on December 30, 1961. To this union they had three children that they raised in Troup, TX. They had 9 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Preceded in death, her beloved husband of 51 years John Allan Sampson. Parents D.E. & Dolly Hicks. Brothers Larry and Gerald Hicks. Sister Katy Cates.

She is survived by her 3 children. Sharon Jo Sampson, John Jeffery Sampson and Shannon Dee Swanson and husband Kevin.

Grandchildren Brandy Jo Dickerson and husband Stephen. Chad Hanson and wife Sarah, Scarlett Jarvis, JD Sampson, Zane Sampson, Sierra Sampson, Leni Sampson, Dustin Swanson, and Abby Swanson.

Great grandchildren Foster, Harper, Braeden, AJ, Jag, and Breanna.

Brother Daylon Hicks.

Those that knew Dodie will remember her for her unwavering faith, her sassy funny personality, her creative jewelry making, and her absolute love of cornbread.

Pallbearers: Stephen Dickerson, Dustin Swanson, Braeden Hanson, AJ Hanson, Kevin Sampson, and Dean Sanderson.
