Edwin Glenn Eikner Sr. (December 18, 1934– March 5, 2025) was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. After marrying his beloved wife, Dolly, on June 16, 1955, they moved to College Station, where he earned his bachelor's degree in floriculture at Texas A&M. A lifelong Aggie, Ed enjoyed watching every Aggie football game, often with Dolly by his side for 69 years.
Raised near Tyler, he attended Dixie schools through 10th grade, excelling in music, theater, and sports before graduating from Tyler High School, where he sang in a barbershop quartet and the acapella choir. Music remained his lifelong passion, inspiring his active participation in church choirs, musicals, playing the piano and leading congregational singing in his church.
As a nurseryman, Ed worked in his family’s rose business, local nurseries, and his own nursery. He took great pride in landscaping his own homestead. An outdoorsman, he treasured the family deer-hunting trips to the hill country, sharing quality time with his sons.
A man of deep faith, Ed lived by example, leading Bible studies, serving as a deacon and elder, and raising his three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to honor God. His warmth and love embraced everyone.
Edwin is preceded by his father, Homer William Eikner, mother, Verdis Eikner, wife, Dolly Eikner, sister, Mary Hand, and son, Edwin Glenn Eikner, Jr.
He is survived by his brother, Gary Eikner; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pam Eikner, granddaughters, Lauren and Chris Davis, Rebekah and Matt Singleton, grandson Taylor Eikner, great-grandson Jaxon, great-granddaughters Alexis, Blakely, and Ryan; daughter, Amy Eikner; daughter-in-law, Dori Eikner, grandsons, Benjamin and Kimberly Eikner, Thomas and Liza Eikner, John and Keilah Eikner, Christian Eikner, great-grandchildren, Kaison, Kamdyn, Kyler, Max, Miles, Uriyah, Scarlett Rose, and Jedidiah.
