Elizabeth Ann Cooper Biles

 (9/13/30 – 1/8/25)

Elizabeth Ann Cooper Biles, aged 94, passed away on January 8, 2025 in Flint, Texas.  She was born in Big Spring, Texas on September 13, 1930 to Velma and A C Cooper.  Elizabeth was known for her faith in God and love for her family.  She was also passionate about bird watching, gardening, and music.

Elizabeth and her husband James were happily married for 64 years until his death in 2015.  Early in their marriage, James served in the Air Force and they frequently moved as his service required.  They later settled in Lufkin, Tx where they began raising their 4 children.  During this time, Elizabeth and James were very active in the First Baptist Church of Lufkin.  Elizabeth sang in the church choir and worked in various children’s programs, and was active in the WMU.  This is also the time when she began to pursue her love for birds and bird watching and involvement in the local Garden Club, as well as supporting a myriad of activities for the children.

Later, Elizabeth and her family moved to Houston.  Elizabeth continued her love for singing in the church choir at the First Baptist Church of Houston.  She was also President of the local garden club and enjoyed bird watching.  This same pattern continued as the family later moved to Monroe, Louisiana, and then back to East Texas.

Family and friends were a very important part of Elizabeth’s life.  She spoke with pride about her children and grandchildren.  Elizabeth made friends wherever she lived, and continued these relationships, especially from Lufkin, Houston, Monroe, and Timpson Texas.  Elizabeth will be remembered as a generous supporter of her family, friends, and community and leaves behind a legacy of service.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband James.  She is survived by her daughter Deb Biles Nichols and Albert of Grove City, Pennsylvania; her daughter Susan Biles Yerby and John of DeRidder, Louisiana; her son Jim Biles and Tina of Flint, Texas; and her son David Biles and Elizabeth of Garner, North Carolina.  She is also survived by grandchildren Bruce (April) Barker, Julia (Andy) Bennett, Jessica Cole, Justin Biles, Nancy (Ryan) Bradford, and Schuyler Biles; and great grandchildren Kellen Barker, Grayson Barker, Oliver Bennett; Harper Cole, Olivia Cole, and Landry Cole; Emma Bradford, Ivy Bradford, and Cain Bradford.  Elizabeth is also survived by her brother David Cooper of Blaine, Washington.

We are deeply grateful for the wonderful staff at Hospice of East Texas for their unwavering kindness and care, and a special thanks to Felecia Marshall for her friendship and care over several years.

A memorial service will be held at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard, Tx on Sunday January 19, 2025 at 2 pm, preceded with visitation with the family at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to Green Acres Baptist Church missions fund or The Hospice of East Texas.
