Evangalan Mixon Saye

Evangalan Mixon Saye was born on August 30th, 1955 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Mary Johnson and the late Richard Mixon. Surrounded by love in the early morning hours of October 26th, Evangalan shook loose of her earthly bonds and entered into the eternal thereafter; and in so doing, created an irreplaceable void for those she’s left behind.

She is survived by her husband Frank Saye of 38 years; son, Clayton Grossman and wife Terri of Bullard; and daughter, Britian McKinney and husband Bryan of Jacksonville. Grandchildren, Aspyn Evangalan Grossman, Berlyn Emory Grossman, Drifter Scott McKinney, Jagger James McKinney, and Journey Justice McKinney.

A vibrant and engaging personality, with a style uniquely her own, she could light up any room; whether it was with her always in vogue fashion sense, fun loving energy, gracious hospitality, or simply her ability to—with an earnest and full heart—relate to others, from every walk of life. She was as forthright in expounding her beliefs as she was in genuinely listening to those of others, and she poured an endless stream of sage advice. With a truly compassionate and philanthropic spirit, and in a myriad of ways, Evangalan helped to positively alter the fortunes of countless individuals and causes. A number that will continue to grow into posterity as her deeds manifest themselves through the acts of those she aided, and in turn, inspired.

She always showed up. She always supported. She always cared. She always loved. She will be missed. An undaunted dreamer, Evangalan shaped the world around her to be as beautiful, bizarre, and grand as herself. She had an expansive vision for a majestic home that her beloved husband and partner, Frank, would shape into a reality. That home would be the catalyst for life changing family reunions and the source of countless joyous memories. Later it evolved and took shape into the venue that it is today, The Castle on the Lake. With each new couple that pledges themselves to one another there; it stands as a testament to a truly abounding and everlasting Legacy.

Additional survivors include step-mother Betty Jo Throckmorton, brothers Scott Hoyt and wife Karen, John Snellen, John Carlock, Eugene Hoyt, Jr. and wife Christine, and Richard Mixon and wife DeAnn. Sisters Helen Hoyt, Vicki Gatza and husband Rob, Tiajuana Moss and husband Wade, Gina Roberts and husband Blaine, Karen Meyer and husband Mark, Jenny Hoyt, Jolynn Brucks and husband Lance, and numerous nieces, nephews, and a loving extended family.

Evangalan cherished the memories of her beloved grandparents Richard and Evelyn Mixon; Ernest and Ruth Ainsworth, as well as her step-parents Eugene and Bella Hoyt, step-father Harry C. Andres, and step-father Colonel Jack L. Throckmorton.

A celebration of Evangalan’s life will be held at the Castle on the Lake in Jacksonville on Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at 6:00 PM. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to H.O.P.E., 595 S. Ragsdale St. Jacksonville, TX 75766.
