Frances Louise Lunceford, 84, of Dialville, Texas, passed away on September 10, 2026, one day after celebrating her 84th birthday surrounded by family.

Frances was born September 9, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to Rosie Cutaia Rocha and Elroy Rocha.

She married Earl Thomas Lunceford, and together they built a life and family that would grow to include generations who knew her simply as Mom, Grandmaw, and someone whose love was often expressed through a good meal, a strong opinion, and making absolutely certain nobody left her house hungry.

Frances was a sassy Italian and a true spitfire. She had a tender heart, but there was no mistaking that she was a no-nonsense woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She especially didn't care for being told what to do—or for anyone having a conversation around her without including her in it. Those who knew Frances knew exactly where they stood with her, but they also knew how deeply she loved and how readily she forgave.

Her home was a place where people were cared for. Walking through her door almost guaranteed an offer of something to eat, and leaving without accepting a snack was no easy accomplishment. Feeding people was simply one of the many ways Frances showed her love.

In her younger years, Frances enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her sewing club. She was a woman who enjoyed creating things with her hands and sharing what she had with the people around her.

Frances was also a God-fearing woman whose faith was woven throughout her life. Among the memories her grandchildren will carry with them are the simple afternoons spent in her front yard, where she would push them on the swing while singing Sunday school songs. What may have seemed like ordinary moments then became the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

She was strong-willed and sassy, loving and forgiving, tenderhearted and tough—a woman who could tell you exactly what she thought and then make sure you had something to eat before you left.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Elroy Rocha and Rosie Cutaia Rocha; her husband, Earl Thomas Lunceford; her son, Earl Thomas Lunceford Jr.; and her daughters, Darlene Ann McKinley and Mary Ann Lunceford.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Halsey, and her husband, Mark Halsey; her granddaughters, Ashley Bivens and husband Michael Bivens, Amanda Halsey, Kayla Lunceford, and Maygan West and husband Josh West.

Frances also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren, Lacey Lowry, Leah Lowry, Layden Bivens, Elijah Baker, Jasmine Baker, River Pierce, Bailey Rowley, Paxton West, Madisyn West, and Jaycie West; and her great-great-granddaughter, Zadiee Baker, daughter of Elijah Baker.

She is also remembered by her extended family and the many people whose lives were touched by her love and unmistakable spirit.

Frances requested that there be no formal funeral or graveside service. In keeping with her wishes, her family will honor her life privately with a small, intimate gathering of those closest to her.

Frances leaves behind generations who will remember her cooking, her sass, her tender heart, her faith, and the certainty that when you walked through her door, you were going to be fed whether you were hungry or not.
