Howard Ray Kirkpatrick, affectionately known by some as "Pete," of Tyler, Texas, passed away with family by his side on December 7, 2024, at the age of 82. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
Howard is survived by his wife, Linda Kirkpatrick; three daughters: Carla McGaughey of Tyler, Texas; Dale O’Hara of Tyler, Texas; and Tonya Kirkpatrick-Pierce of Mabank, Texas; as well as one son, Christopher Kirkpatrick of Mabank, Texas. He also leaves behind his stepsons, Darric Bass and Darrin Bass, as well as loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie Kirkpatrick Hill and John Kay Kirkpatrick, as well as his siblings Alex Kirkpatrick, Dale Kirkpatrick and Randy Kirkpatrick.
Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Howard was deeply rooted in his community. He dedicated his life to his family and faith, committing to Christ at an early age. Howard retired from the Texas Department of Corrections as a Sergeant in 2013. He volunteered with adult special needs organizations and served at his church.
Howard loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, playing sports, and reading western novels. He found great joy in supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their events and activities, always making time for his family and friends.
Services to honor Howard’s life will be held at Central Baptist Church on Friday, December 13th at 2PM. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his legacy.
Howard’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
