James “Jim” Harrison Holley

James “Jim” Harrison Holley, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Whitehouse, Texas. Born on October 28, 1952, in Vernon, Texas, Jim lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He was 72 years old at the time of his passing.

Jim was the cherished son of William and Alice Holley and was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda, as well as his parents, brothers Robert, Donnie, and Charles, sister Ethel, and stepdaughter Shanna. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jim went to Grand Saline High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and dedication. He served his country admirably as a missile mechanic in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.

Known as a “jack of all trades,” Jim held various positions throughout his career, including heavy machine operator and oilfield consultant. His work allowed him to travel and experience many parts of the world, but it was always the love of his family that brought him back home. He had a remarkable ability to tackle any challenge that came his way, always with a smile and a joke.

In his personal life, Jim was a man of many interests. He had a passion for card games and loved to play darts, where his competitive spirit often shined through. However, the moments he cherished most were those spent with his family. He was known for his infectious sense of humor and generosity, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. He would give you the shirt off his back (unless, of course, it was his prized Texas Longhorns shirt).

Jim leaves behind a loving family who will carry on his legacy. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Foster and her husband John of Chandler, and Cristie Guy and her husband Israel of Canton. He also leaves his sons, James Jr. and his wife Skyla of Fruitvale, and Cody of Whitehouse. Jim is survived by his brother William and wife Marie of Tenaha, sisters Mary Conner of Winnsboro and Jeanie Jennings of Fruitvale, as well as brother-in-law Doug Dickerson of Grand Saline. His family also includes 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored him. Jim never met a stranger; he had a unique ability to connect with everyone he encountered.

A memorial service to honor Jim’s life will be held on August 23, 2025 at Oak Crossing (101 Glenda Street, Whitehouse, Texas) where family & friends are invited to gather & celebrate the life of a great man. Potluck meal to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans Association, as a way to honor Jim’s spirit and his love for helping others.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Hope Cancer Center of Tyler and Hospice of East Texas for their compassionate care during Jim's final days.

James “Jim” Harrison Holley will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace. Go Longhorns!!!
