On July 15, 2022, at 11:37 pm at the age of 66, Janice Moore Aitken, loving mother of three children, seven grandchildren and devoted wife of 38 years to Kenneth Aitken, lost her courageous four-year long battle against the relentless and unforgiving metastasized appendiceal cancer.

Jan was born August 1st, 1955, in Henderson, Texas to the late Chester “Max” and Sylvia Moore. She is survived by her three adored children, daughter Darcy, her husband Kory Cox, their two boys Silas and Kason; son Matthew Parker, his wife Nichole, their three children, Savannah, Briar, and Wyatt; and son Kenne Aitken, his wife Brea and their two children Kendall and Harrison. She is also survived by her three siblings, Chuck Moore, Lance Moore and Penny Shephard, many nieces and nephews and several cousins. Jan enjoyed many activities while she was in school and always said she could be a professional student, she enjoyed school and learning new things so much. From learning to play the saxophone and piano to going all the way through what was then called Camp Fire Girls and being a devout Christian, she always found a way to leave time for her family. After graduating with a computer science degree from ETSU she taught eighth grade math for two years in Royce City before moving to Houston to begin her forty-year career in the oil and gas industry with just two major contributing companies.

Throughout their marriage, Jan and Ken enjoyed many activities together; Participated in bowling leagues, playing on softball teams, shopping, collecting things and traveling many places together all while creating and enjoying a loving family.  Jan enjoyed playing many games and had a great sense of humor amongst family comraderies, but still never hesitated to keep us all in line.  Jan always had such a creative soul in which she thoroughly enjoyed crafting and sharing her creations with so many friends and loved ones. Throughout the years she has made many lifelong friendships whether it was from the various sports activities, girl scout adventures or even helping with Harmony Spirit with the East Texas Men in Harmony, such put her heart and soul into everything she did and everyone she met. Her caring spirit and thoughtful soul have touched and embraced so many people and she will forever be missed and loved.
