On Friday, August 4, 2017, Janice Rebecca Hughes, age 72, passed away due to sudden and unexpected health problems. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Wayne Hughes, Sr., who was the love of her life; daughters Diana Allen and husband Paul of Kilgore, TX and Becki Ditto of White Oak, TX, and son Robert W. Hughes Jr. of Adamsville, TN. She was a very loved grandmother of six and great-grandmother of another six. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Janice was born in 1944 in Rosepine, LA to Rudy and Helen Weeks. Janice is also survived by her mother, who is 92 years old of Rosepine, LA. She had a brother, Charlie Weeks, deceased; Janice is further survived by her sister, Valerie Lunsford and husband Bud of Hallsville, TX and many other beloved family members.
She was an active member of Longview First United Pentecostal Church in Longview, TX. Janice was loved and adored by her family, her church family and many people within in the East Texas community. She and her husband lived in Smith County, TX in a serene country setting on 30 acres of land for about 35 years. She did not have many hobbies, but she felt that spending a little quiet time with a good book was the perfect way to pass the time.
There will be a memorial service held to celebrate Janice's life at Longview First United Pentecostal Church, 1901 Alpine Road, Longview, TX 75601 at 2:00 on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Cremation services provided by Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
