In Loving Memory of Jeanette Park Meek Weatherly  

November 21, 1927 – June 25, 2025

Jean Weatherly, lovingly known to some as Nettie, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on November 21, 1927, in Sunflower, Mississippi, Jean lived her life with an open heart, a joyful laugh, and a gardening spade never too far from reach.

A devoted homemaker, mother, and cherished member of her church community, Jean was the kind of person who embraced life’s imperfections with grace—and a little bit of delightful chaos. Quirky, occasionally haphazard, and always unforgettable, she brought color and humor into every room she entered.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Mitchell Weatherly. She is survived by her two children, David Weatherly Jr. and Lucy Norlie; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren—all of whom carry forward her deep love, spirited energy.

Whether singing hymns at church, laughing in the kitchen, or coaxing plants to amazing size, Jean led with love and lived with light.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 18th at Merigold Methodist Church in Merigold, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate a life joyfully and uniquely lived.
