Jerry Alan Terrell, Sr. (Pops)

Jerry Alan Terrell, Sr., 76, of Payne Springs, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on November 30, 1948, to Ralph and Evelyn Manson Terrell in Dallas, Texas, and was the eldest of six children—two brothers and three sisters. He enjoyed sharing memories of childhood antics and adventures with his siblings and cousins.

He proudly served as a paratrooper in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his military service, Jerry built a long career as an over-the-road truck driver with Yellow Freight, retiring in 2013 with an impeccable safety record.

Jerry will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and unwavering love for his family. Pops was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was with honesty and purpose. He was kind, deliberate, and thoughtful—never making a move without thinking of family first.

Strategic and intentional by nature, Jerry was a chess player at heart. He also had a lifelong love for the game of pool—learned from his father, shared with his brothers, and passed on to his children and grandchildren. It was a joy to watch him play: chalk in hand, eyes sharp, always thinking a few shots ahead.

Jerry enjoyed staying active. When healthy, he could often be found picking up his youngest grandsons—Brent and Brenen—from school, taking them for haircuts, or treating them to malts, creating a special bond that was truly extraordinary. Even in hospice care, he was simply incapable of sitting still—always looking for something to fix or a small project to keep busy with.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Terrell; his parents, Ralph and Evelyn Terrell; and his brother, Howard Terrell.

Jerry is survived by his children: Patricia Terrell, Tina Terrell, Alan Terrell (Kerri), and Jimmy Terrell; grandchildren: Christopher Crossley (Hailey Wilson), Brandi Dame (Nicholas), Brent Terrell, and Brenen Terrell; siblings: Judy Ivy (John), Teresa Ward, and James Terrell (Kelley); and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who dearly loved their “Pops.”

A memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, James and Kelley Terrell, in Ferris, Texas. Details regarding the date and time will be announced at a later date.
