
Jerry Allen Sanders, 90, of Flint, Texas passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, after a 6-month illness.
Jerry was born on May 23, 1935, across the road from where he lived for the last 60 years. Jerry retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in Tyler and Mineola in September 1989 after 32 years.
Jerry met his wife, Vivian, in 1955 and they were married at the Flint Baptist Church on November 23, 1957.
Jerry served in the Army in 1958-1960 being stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Ord, California; Korea; and Fort Benning, Georgia. He was recalled during the Berlin Crisis and spent 9 months at Fort Polk, in Leesville, La.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Oweta Sanders and his great-grandson, Dawson Sewell. He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Vivian, their daughter, Lori & husband Terry Sewell, of Flint, son, Mark Sanders of Tyler, grandsons, Clay (wife Taylor), of Bullard, Kevin Sewell of Flint, and granddaughter, Kayla Winebark (husband Brandon) of Lindale, and 6 great- grandchildren, Aeris Ballenger, Silas, & Shepherd Sewell & Lena, Ethan and Claire Winebark.
Burial will be at Flint Cemetery at a later date.
