John Alvin Wood

John Alvin Wood of Athens, Texas passed away on April 13th, 2024. He was a dearly loved father, grandfather, church member, bee keeper, and friend. He was known around the community for his willingness to do for others. He gave freely of his time and skills to anyone that needed it. John was preceded in death by his adoring wife, Jana C. Wood and his parents, Julious Robert Wood (Gertrude Valentine Wood). He is survived by his son, John Michael Wood (Karla Wood), and Robin Ann Wood-East), his grandchildren Melody Carpenter, Ashley Hood, Charity  Williams (Joshua Williams), Kevin Morris and Saphira Carpenter. John was not only heavily involved and faithful in his church, he also served for a time as the Vice President of the Caddo Trace Beekeepers Association. He worked for many years as an accountant with Texas Utilities and loved spending his retired time traveling, camping, and square dancing with his beloved wife.
