Kathy Jo Powell Stone

Kathy Jo Powell Stone, 51, of Longview, TX, passed away on February 8, 2026, following complications from an unexpected surgery.

Kathy was born on July 23, 1974, to Roy Lee Powell and Julia Mae Powell Daniels in Kilgore, TX. From a young age, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends most, and that carried on to being a loving spouse, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed the little moments of everyday life.

Kathy was a force of nature, from her nurturing ways to her unstoppable strength, she was head strong and true. While life had its challenges, she faced obstacles that came her way with relentless determination and care. Her loving and motherly heart showed through her years of raising four children and countless adopted children and grandchildren. She was the person you could rely on for comfort and understanding in every aspect of your life. She listened without judgement, helped without hesitation, and defended her loved ones fiercely. Kathy was a brave woman whose children and grandchildren were her pride and purpose in life and her greatest legacy.

Kathy was predeceased by her soulmate Tracey Glenn Stauss and parents, Roy and Julia. Kathy is survived by her children Savanna Powell, Cody Stone, Christina (Seth) Ashley, James Stone; grandchildren Mace Lewis, Rhyan Lewis, Rylie Ashley, Sadie Ashley, Emmett Ashley, and Emory Stone; siblings Chris (Walter) Bozeman, Kay Dorsey, Pam Lewis, and Larry (Chrystal) Powell; countless uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews; many others that called her Mom and Granny will miss her dearly.

Though her time was cut short, her memory will live within our hearts forever.

We hope you can join us to memorialize Kathy’s life on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12pm-2pm at Larry and Chrystal Powell’s house 15319 FM 2276 N Kilgore, TX 75662. Come as you are, as mom would have wanted.

This is not goodbye, this is see you later, Mom.
