Kenneth Alan Watson

Kenneth passed away unexpectedly in Livingston, TX on August 1,2023 at the age of 53. Kenneth was born on June 22,1970 in Tyler, TX to Faye (McCullough) Watson and Lawrence Watson. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. He went on to earn an associate in criminal justice from Tyler Junior College. In 1994, Kenneth moved to Livingston, TX where he joined the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a corrections officer at the Pulaski unit. Kenneth continued to work for TDCJ until he retired in 2016. He started a new path with Direct Solutions for Livingston ISD.   While in Livingston he met Rosa Martinez and from their union two beautiful children Braeden Alan and Gabriela Elise were raised.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his mother Faye Watson, his father Lawrence Watson and grandparents JD and Johnnie McCullough. He is survived by a son Braeden Watson of Euless, TX Gabriela Watson of Livingston, TX; his sisters Cynthia Watson, Beverly Watson, and Karen Watson all of Euless, TX. Aprille Watson, Portia Hood, and Brian Watson of San Diego, California.

As an avid fan of the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and University of North Carolina Tarheels basketball team he could always be found cheering them to victory. When he wasn’t outdoors thinking he was a grill master he could be found in the kitchen testing out new recipes to share with his family. He got his love of cooking from his mother. Kenneth was an animal lover, especially dogs. In his eyes the bigger the dog the better. Never one to judge others, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest joy was becoming a father to Braeden and Gabi. You would find him coaching football and cheer practice.

The visitation will be held Thursday August 17 from 6pm-8pm at Boren-Conner in Jacksonville, TX. The funeral service will be on Friday August 18 at 10 am at the chapel at Boren-Conner. He will be interned at Resthaven in Jacksonville.
