Martha Kathleen Sleeper, 75, of Bullard, passed on Sunday, September 3, 2023, after complications from surgery. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard; family services will be held at a later time in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.
She was born May 30, 1948 to Richard and Lorene Murray in Monahans, Texas. A life-long teacher, she dedicated her life to teaching young children.
At the time of her death, she taught third and fourth graders in her STEAM Lab at Bullard Elementary School. In addition, she taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Bullard Elementary and served as Instructional Technology Specialist in the BISD Curriculum Department. Previously, she was a kindergarten teacher at Alpine Elementary School for 20 years.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Family Relations from Texas Tech University in 1969. She completed her Master’s of Education Degree in 1982 at Sul Ross State University.
An accomplished quilter, her love was making quilts for family and baby blankets for great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Lee of Bullard; son Lance, and his wife Krista of Franklin; daughter Hillary Beard and her husband Issac of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Judy Taylor of Fort Worth; grandchildren Allyson Beard of Waco, Dawson Beard of Alpine, Landon Sleeper of Key West, Florida, and J.T. Sleeper of College Station.
