Max Aubrey Thomason

Max Aubrey Thomason was born September 9,1933 in Dialville, TX to Irma and John Wiley

Thomason and died March 16, 2023 at his home. He was a proud graduate of the Dialville

Tigers class of '52.

Memorial service will be at Central Baptist Church Saturday Apr 8, 2023 . Visitation will begin at

10:00 and the service will follow at 11:00. Memorial gifts may be made to County Roads Rescue

After graduating, he joined the Air Force & was stationed in San Antonio, TX where he

was trained to be an air traffic controller. He worked in San Antonio, New Orleans & Shreveport.

In 1970, he returned to Dialville to live and started working at Pounds Field airport in Tyler.

Never a man to have only one job, he also began working as a deputy for his lifelong friend and

Cherokee County Sheriff, John Bill Slover. In the late 70s he got his real estate license and after

a few years Max, Frank Howell, and John Rosser opened Delta Realty on the square in Rusk

until late 1980. In 1981, with a strike looming by the air traffic controllers union, Max retired in

February just before the strike began. On March 1, 1981 he opened Max Thomason Bail Bonds

which is still operating 42 years later. In his spare time, he raised cattle, grew hay, worked his

farm, and enjoyed spending time with family and raising rat terrier (spot dog) puppies.

Max is preceded in death by infant daughter Marsha Thomason. He is survived by his wife

Marjorie Thomason, son David Thomason, daughters Patsy Kay "PK" Thomason, Sandra

Thomason, Linda Edison, & bonus son Randy Jones. Grandchildren Lindsey & Fred McDaniel,

Lukas & Brittney Thomason, Amanda Reynolds & Jeremy Middleton, Jonathan & Cera

Reynolds, Joshua Jones, Emily & Cade Wilkerson, Jessica & Michael Clater, and Brianna

Dallas & Taylor Bingham, Nick Thomason & Zach Thomason. Great-grand children include Abby

& Hadlee McDaniel, Aubree & Allie Reynolds, Sutton & Coast Wilkerson, Birdie Thomason,

Cody & Waylon Middleton and Conner "Little Buddy" Deaton & 2 more due in the next few

months. Siblings John & Faye Thomason, Nancy & Howard Nesselhauf. Nieces & nephews

Michael & Rachael Thomason, Bryan & Trisha Thomason, Laura & James Cartier, Leslie & Josh

Coates, Lacey & Kenley Dover, and 8 great nieces.

A very special thank you to Amanda Reynolds who went above & beyond grand daughter

duties, always with a smile on her face & love in her heart while helping to care for him the last

few years.
