Neil Leo Harbeson, 88, of Troup, Texas died peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2024, in Whitehouse. Neil was born November 16, 1935, in Allen, Oklahoma to Harlo D. and Izetta Mae Harbeson, where he spent most of his childhood outdoors exploring the Oklahoma countryside.

On November 1, 1976, Neil married Donna Louise Casey in Tyler, Texas, blending their two families into one. He worked as a Landman in the Petroleum Industry for many years, owning and operating Harbeson Geophysical until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and had a great love for animals (feathered and furred).  Pawpaw, as he was affectionately called by most, took great pride in making the birdhouses that still house the beautiful birds around the farm that he so enjoyed puttering around. He was a gentle spirit that will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Neil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Louise Harbeson of Troup, Texas; his children, Jana Harbeson Watts (Dwayne) of Lindale, Traci Harbeson Smith of Gresham, Julie Nichols of Hallsville, Regina Hanna (Michael Soter) of New Mexico, and Tony Hanna (Dee) of Troup; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, a daughter Barbie Marie Harbeson, a son-in-law Dustin Nichols and a son David Hanna.

Graveside services will be held on March 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Rucker Cemetery, 22123 County Road 2146, Troup, Texas, officiated by Bro. Sherman Mayfield.
