A memorial to celebrate the life of Paul Gainer of Bullard, Texas will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10:00 AM at The Chapel on Eagle's Bluff. For those unable to attend in person, the memorial service will be live streamed on the Facebook page of South Spring Baptist Church, Tyler, TX.  

Paul Watkins Gainer was born October 1, 1956, passing into the arms of the Lord July 12, 2026. He was born in San Angelo, Texas and spent his early childhood there. His high school years were spent in San Antonio. Paul continued his education at Texas A&M, Galveston working part-time for SeaArama where he developed a keen interest in veterinary medicine and exotic animal care. Paul graduated in 1978 and entered veterinary school at Texas A&M, College Station, earning his DVM degree in 1982.
Paul began his veterinary career with Shelley Drive Animal Clinic. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Arnold and Dr. Mike Maris for mentoring Paul and helping him hone his skills.
Paul along with partner, Dr. Mike Dixon, established Flint Veterinary Clinic in 1984. Their relationship transcended a business partnership into a deep friendship of unconditional care and support. Paul retired in 2026 after 42 years of providing veterinary services to the community he so enjoyed.

Retirement allowed Paul more time to work on his golf game and his cribbage and backgammon skills. Thanks to those who shared these hobbies with him.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lindsey, and their daughters, Kameron (David) Aycock, and Courtney (Matthew) Stewart, along with his grandchildren, Adele, Ezzy, Shepherd, Noelle and Selah. He is also survived by his siblings, Randy (Johanna Schorr) Gainer, David Gainer, and Beth (Mark) Kristjanson, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be gifted to The Chapel on Eagle's Bluff, South Spring Baptist Church, or Tyler Therapet.
