Ramona Ortega, 83, of Jacksonville, passed away on Thursday evening, March 19, 2026. A Graveside service will be conducted on Monday morning, March 23, 2026, at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville, to begin at 10:00am. Father Jay Lucas will officiate the service under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
Ramona Ortega of Jacksonville, Texas, was born in Kaufman, Texas on March 21st ,1942 and departed on March 19th, 2026. Known for her deep faith, she was a member at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church until her health would no longer allow her to participate. More than anything, she was the person her family leaned on, always steady and dependable when someone needed strength.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Ortega who she was married to for 65 years, her daughter Dora Eads, her grandchildren Nicholas Ortega and Laura Eads Vinson, and her great-grandchild Jonathan James Ortega, her brothers Frank Ybarra, Dee Ybarra, Albert Ybarra and Arthur Ybarra.
Ramona’s love carries on in the family she leaves behind. She is survived by her sisters, Antonia Mendez, Mary Sanchez, and Josie Ruiz, and by her brothers, Raymond Ybarra, Rufus Ybarra, and Tony Ybarra. Also surviving her are her children, Edward Ortega, Laura Silva and her husband Victor, Greg Ortega, and Parfidio Ortega and his wife Tina. Her memory lives on through her 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly
