R.C. Langston

R.C. Langston, age 65, of Maydelle, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on March 22, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family as his short battle with cancer came to an end. He was born on October 23, 1958, to Tom and Bootsie Langston in Rusk, Texas.

R.C. was known to be hard-working, kind-hearted, and loving. Through the years his charismatic personality brought many wonderful people into his life. In his career, he made many great friends through his various endeavors, whether it was cutting down trees in the log woods, traveling all over the country for the oilfield, or working alongside his twin brother, L.C. Langston, for Cherokee County Precinct 2.

In his leisure time, R.C. enjoyed grabbing an ice-cold beer and driving down to the river to catch some fish and sit by the fire, a hobby he cherished all of his life. Many nights his nephew, Dustin Langston, would be by his side as the fire burned bright through the night.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rhonda Langston of Maydelle, TX; two sons, Wayne and Kevin Langston of Maydelle, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Jared Simmons of Pecos, TX; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bobby Reeve of Lufkin, TX; two brothers, L.C. Langston and Robert Langston of Maydelle, TX; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. R.C. was preceded in death by his father, Tom Langston; mother, Bootsie Langston; sister, Jannie Langston; brother, Harold Langston; and many other beloved family and friends.

Pallbearers will include: Wayne Langston, Kevin Langston, L.C. Langston, Dustin Langston, Tony Langston, Jared Simmons, Michael Sullivan, and Danny Paul Dowling. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Langston and Blake Boren.
