July 3, 1964 – October 20, 2024
Robert Anthony Charles, 60, of Canton Texas passed away on October 20, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and a deep appreciation for all things mechanical. Born on July 3, 1964, to Patricia Charles (Leatherwood) and Bob Charles in Dallas Texas. Tony’s fascination with engines and machinery began early. From the age of twelve, he worked on cars, go-karts, motorcycles, or anything else that needed fixing, forging a lifelong passion for building and repairing. Tony was known for his love of cherry red trucks and his pride and joy: Corvettes. His happiest moments were surrounded by roaring engines, whether at dirt track races, drag stripes, or top-fuel drag events. His dedication to the thrill of speed and the beauty of a well-built machine was unmatched.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi Charles; his daughter, Patricia Charles Slawson, and her husband, Justin Slawson; and his son, Andrew Johnson. He was a proud grandfather to Charlee and Preslee Slawson; Genesis Johnson; and Tony and Andy Johnson. He was also a beloved brother to Chris and Martin Harp, as well as other family and friends.
Though he moved to Canton later in life, he was at peace, calling it his “last stop.” Tony’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him as a devoted family man with an unbreakable spirit and a true love for the open road.
Tony was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Charles; father, Bob Charles; and son, Danny Johnson.
