He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, class of 1971. He attended Tyler Junior College studying Communications and later attended Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.

Ron was no stranger to hard work. His first job began at the age of 10 where he worked at Whitaker’s Food Store in Tyler, Texas. Later, he worked for Dr. Wimberly managing his ranch in Whitehouse, Texas. He went on to work as a roughneck on a drilling rig with Delta Drilling while working and paying his way through mortuary school. This began his long career in funeral service. In 1985 he purchased property in Bullard, Texas and built his second funeral home location which also includes Bullard Memorial Cemetery.  In later years, Ron built the first crematory in Smith and Cherokee Counties. Ron enjoyed investing in real estate, ranching, raising trophy class whitetail deer and spending money. He loved to hunt, cook and entertain crowds. Purchasing land to develop and improve was one of his greatest hobbies and natural talents. He had the ability to see the potential and beauty in undeveloped land. Red was his signature color. He spent many hours driving the roads at his ranch in his red truck.
