Sadako Sawyer (Kiyuna), 66, of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9th 2026, surrounded by her family after a life filled with faith, love and devotion to those she loved.

Sadako was born on July 17, 1959 in Okinawa City, Japan to Chofuku and Haruko Kiyuna. She grew up in a close loving family with her three siblings, Tomoaki, Akemi, and Choken. After graduating from high school in Okinawa, she worked on the military base where she met the love of her life Donald Sawyer.

Donald and Sadako married in the spring on April 8th 1987 and moved to Oceanside, California.Together they built a home full of laughs, warmth and unconditional love.  Sadako Sawyer supported her husband throughout his military career, caring and loving their 2 daughters, Jennifer Minako Sawyer, 38 and Mia Momoko Sawyer, 32. For 20 years she worked at Fujikura Golf Shaft Company as a stock manager in Carlsbad, CA.

In 2008, she joined her sister Akemi on a Christian Church Mission in Seattle, Washington where she gave her life to Our Lord Jesus Christ. She was an active member in her Church and was part of their bible study ministry. Sadako was filled with love, kindness and compassion for others. Her warm smile, generous heart and strong spirit made her a remarkable and welcoming person to all who knew her.

Sadako was preceded in death by her mother Haruko Kiyuna.

She is survived by her husband Donald Sawyer, her children, Jennifer Minako Kerr and Mia Momoko Foster; her grandchildren, Remy, Rowen, Reese Kerr, Bradley, Sophia, and Liliana Foster.
