Memorial service for Samuel Keith (Sam) “Spanky” Willoughby, 68, of Liberty City will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with Daniel Domain officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 am until service time. Sam passed away Saturday, October 1st in Tyler, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Sam was born on July 18, 1954 in Kilgore, Texas to Stephen Eugene Willoughby and Shirley Hester Willoughby. He was a graduate of Sabine High School, Class of 1972. Sam was married to his high school sweetheart, Toni Todd Willoughby, on April 21, 1973.He spent his working life in the East Texas oilfields and worked until his retirement as an owner-operator in the trucking industry.
Mr. Willoughby is survived by his wife of 49 years, Toni Lynn Todd Willoughby of Liberty City; and his three daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Daniel Domain of Waxahachie; Jamie and Kenne Thomas of Longview; and Samantha and Brandon Shipman of Liberty City; mother, Shirley Hester Willoughby of Kilgore; brothers, Forrest and Mickey Willoughby of Keithville, Louisiana; Clyde and Tami Willoughby of Liberty City; four grandchildren, Kaylee Chase of Carthage, Olivia Domain of Waxahachie, and Dominik and Braden Shipman of Liberty City; two great-grandchildren, Rocky and Kaden Jackson of Carthage; and his beloved dogs, Harley, Murphy, and Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen (Gene) Willoughby.
