
On the morning of February 27, 2025, Sandra Tompkins Minter ”Sandy”, made a quiet exit into the arms of the Good Lord. Her sweetheart was not strong enough to overcome all its’ complications.
Sandy was born in Athens on November 25, 1946 to her, now deceased parents, Corinne Trammell Tompkins & A.W. Tompkins, Jr. Sandy was a 1964 graduate of Jacksonville High School. After high school, she attended business school in Tyler. Through the years, she was a secretary for the law firms of Stone & Stone, Hulon Brown, Sorrell & Moake and Ricky Richards. She also worked at Jacksonville Title Co. Upon the death of her husband of 40 years, Daniel Minter, she became the owner of Global Fabricators, INC. Her work here was rewarded 2009, as she was named the Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year. Sandy loved Jacksonville. She was a member of the of Career Women Civic Club, HOPE, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful.
Sandy’s memory lives through surviving family, including her son, Shon Minter of Jacksonville, grandsons, that knew her as “YaYa”, Nicholas Minter of Jacksonville, and Daniel Minter of Brooksville, FLA., her 2 remaining sisters, Sherry Tompkins Holloway of Athens, TX and Charlotte Tompkins Parker (husband, Randy) of Brownsboro, TX, brother-in-law, Billy Jack Dickson of Brownsboro, TX, many nieces/ nephews, great nieces/nephews Sandy’s passing was a great loss for her lifelong friends, that Sandy referred to as “the girls”, Barbara Murray ( husband Tommy), Judy Batton, Sue Dublin & Shine Chancellor, and all of Jacksonville. Deanna Hensley, now deceased, was also one of “the girls”. Also true to the end, was Sarah Minter Shuck and husband, Jason.
Sandy was preceded in death by husband Dan Minter (2008) her mother, Corinne Tompkins (1970), her father, A. W. Tompkins, Jr (1993), sister, DeLoris Tompkins Dickson (2022), brother-in law, Billy Holloway (2022).
A memorial service will be held at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Frankston on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11am.
