Sara Lynn Collins, 77, of Flint, passed away at her home on Friday evening, April 3, 2026. A Funeral Ceremony will be conducted on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2026, at Pollard United Methodist, to begin at 1:00pm. A visitation will begin in the church at noon prior to the service. Bro. Ryan Stratton will officiate. Interment will be held privately at Bullard Memorial Cemetery folowing the service.
Sara Lynn Collins was born April 9th, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee and passed away on April 3rd, 2026 in Flint, Texas at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil Watkins and Edith Wilcox; and her son, Ron Darden.
Sara graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in journalism and built a career in advertising. She was a woman of strong faith who was deeply involved with church, especially in youth ministry. Although she spent a lot of time in the city, Sara found great joy in the outdoors. She loved canoeing and traveling. She and her husband of 42 years, Phil, shared a beautiful life together in their log home in the East Texas woods.
She is survived by her loving husband Phil Collins; her brother Marc Watkins and his wife Karen; daughter in law Julie Darden; grandsons Philip Darden and his fiance Sarah, Jesse Darden and his wife Jackie, Andy Fulenchek and his wife Kim; and her great-grandchildren Zelda Darden, Hazel Fulenchek and Kora Fulenchek.
Pallbearers include Thomas Miller, Paul Hanna, Joe Burgess, and George ‘Mac’ McElory.
