Sybil Templeton, age 86, of Tyler, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born on August 11, 1939, in Halliwell, Manchester, England, Sybil's journey began across the Atlantic at only 11 years old, before she made Texas her home. Though she never forgot her English roots, she embraced the life she built in East Texas with grace, determination, and a heart that welcomed everyone. Wherever life took her, she carried with her a quiet strength, a kind spirit, and an unwavering love for those around her.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. Sybil had a remarkable gift for making people feel at home. Her door was always open, her kitchen was always welcoming, and her love was freely given. Whether offering a listening ear, words of encouragement, or simply sharing a meal, she made everyone feel like family.

Determined to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher, Sybil earned her degree in education through Tyler Junior College, The University of Texas at Tyler, and Stephen F. Austin State University. She later retired from Dixie Elementary School, where she spent many years shaping young minds with patience, compassion, and encouragement. Teaching was more than a career to her—it was her calling, and she left a lasting impression on countless students and colleagues.

Of all the roles she held throughout her life, being "Mom," "Grandma," and "Great-Grandma" brought her the greatest joy. She treasured every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether gathered around the table for holidays, celebrating life's milestones, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, those memories became the greatest treasures of her life.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience.

She is survived by her three sons: Michael Templeton; Allan Templeton and his wife, Donna; and Garry Templeton and his wife, Sharon. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Courtney House, Brittany Templeton, Lindsey Cullins, Christopher Templeton, Aaron Templeton, and Jodye Green; and by her cherished great-grandchildren, Kourbin and Rylan House, Colby Bishop, Warren Royall, Taytum Silva, Penn and Rhys Cullins, and Jansen and Jax Green.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Choyce Templeton; her parents, Joseph and Violet Tench; and her sister, Christine Durr.

A celebration of Sybil's life will be held on August 1, 2026 from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM (come and go) at her home, 324 Glen Cove Cr. Tyler, TX 75701. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman whose kindness and love enriched so many lives.

Although our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Sybil's love lives on in the family she cherished, the students she inspired, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
