Syble Marie Whitfield, 74, of Poynor, TX passed away on the morning of October 26, 2024 after a courageous three-year battle with breast cancer.
Syble was born on July 31,1950, to Clyde and Catherine McDonald in Conroe, Texas; she was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1968 and married soon afterwards having her only child, Jamie Gilliland Kirk. In 1977, she reunited with and married the love of her life, James Larry Whitfield. They were married 47 years at the time of her passing.
Syble had a huge heart filled with much love for her family. She always put others first and was the most generous person to those in her life. Her family was beyond blessed to have such a wonderful wife/Mom/Mimi/sister and aunt Syble. She was happiest with the simple things in life including being surrounded by her loved ones and feeding her deer from her back patio every opportunity she got.
Syble was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Catherine McDonald, two brothers, Kenneth McDonald and Gene McDonald, two sisters, Louise Smith and June Peel, great nephew, Houston Briggs, great niece, Emma Houser, father-in-law, Jack W. Whitfield, Sr., mother-in-law, India Ann Mize and "adopted" daughter Dana Moseley.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Larry Whitfield, her daughter, Jamie Gilliland Kirk, her stepson, Marcus Whitfield, her granddaughter, Shea Kirk, her bonus granddaughter Ashley Myers, her sister-in-law, Julie Berry and husband Mike, her brother- in-law Jack Whitfield, Jr., her nieces Kathy Williams and husband Mike, Diane McGee and husband Darrell, Angie Reed and husband Carl and many other nieces and nephews.
No services will be held for Syble at this time and, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
