William Edward “Eddie” Cook

William Edward “Eddie” Cook, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away suddenly at his home in Mineola, Texas on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the age of 69.

Eddie was born on November 18, 1953 in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Bryan Adams High School and earned his Associate’s Degree from Eastfield Community College. He would go on to work in the same industry and with the same company for over 40 years, servicing home appliances and HVAC units.

Shortly after starting his career, Eddie met and married the love of his life, Connie, and they raised their two children together in Garland, Texas. There he enjoyed bowling and playing pool with his son, Randy, and attended countless high school football games to watch his daughter, Aimee, dance at halftime. In 2002, he moved to East Texas for a slower pace of life and to be closer to the lakes he loved to fish on.

Spending time and sharing meals with his friends and family brought Eddie great joy in life, whether it was a fish fry of that week’s catch, ribs on the grill, a homemade birthday cake for his grandsons, or his “world-famous” pancakes. He would always be happy to sit with you, Diet Coke in hand, and tell a joke that you had probably heard from him before.

While we are all grieving this unexpected loss, Eddie would likely want us to take comfort in knowing he had achieved most of his goals in life many times over. He raised his children well, he got to spend his days with his best friend, he bowled the perfect game, he caught the 10 lb bass, and he was with us long enough to teach his grandsons how to cast a line and clean a fish. That is the legacy he wanted.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved father, William “Cotton” Cook, and mother, Mary Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Cook; son, Randy Cook; daughter, Aimee Bailey; son-in-law, Jody Bailey; grandsons, Ethan, Thomas, Joshua, and Simon Bailey; sister, Annette Swaggerty (husband Mickey); brother, Jim Cook (wife Carla); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who he enjoyed so much over the years.

A memorial will be held in his honor at Mineola First United Methodist Church (612 N. Newsom St., Mineola, TX 75775  - on January 7th 2023 to begin at 1:00pm
